Larry Shepherd Obituary

Larry Paul Shepherd, 73, of Salisbury went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the W.G. Bill Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Rowan County on December 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Pearl Eva Mae Cress and George Frank Shepherd. Larry was a 1966 graduate of East Rowan High School and a veteran of the US Army. He worked as an automobile mechanic for Carter-Mays Pontiac Cadillac in Salisbury. He was a member of Union Lutheran Church and volunteered for the Union Volunteer Fire Department. Larry loved his granddaughters and the mountains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Shepherd. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Goodwin Shepherd, whom he married on August 6, 1967; son, Anthony “Tony” Paul Shepherd (Pam) of Summerville, SC; daughter, Tonya Shepherd Darling (Scott) of Concord, NC; brother, A.W. Shepherd (Debbie) of Salisbury; sister, Linda Shepherd Wilkins (Jim) of Benson, NC; grandchildren, Taryn and Marissa Moyer. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Union Lutheran Church, 4770 Bringle Ferry Rd, Salisbury, NC 28146, with Pastor Heidi Punt officiating. A visitation will follow the memorial service. Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Shepherd family. Online condolences may be made at www.lyerlyfuneralhome.com.
