Larry Shuff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Overton Funeral Home - Indianola on Sep. 16, 2025.
Larry Charles Shuff, 83, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully, Monday, September 15, 2025 at home with his family and pup at his side. A Celebration of Life will be held Noon to 3 p.m., Saturday, September 20 at the American Legion Post #165, 105 W 1st Ave, Indianola, IA 50125.

Born the youngest of eleven children, Larry grew up with a deep sense of family and a zest for life that carried him through the years.

Larry married the love of his life, Judith, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years before her passing in 2016. Their love and devotion to each other set an enduring example for their family and friends.

A man who cherished the outdoors, Larry found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and simply being under the open sky. He loved the thrill of riding his motorcycle, the excitement of a good gamble, and the peace of time spent in nature. His laughter, stories, and adventurous spirit were a source of warmth to all who knew him. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 234 for 60 years.

Above all, Larry loved his family. He carried with him a deep pride in his roots and an unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His memory will be treasured and carried on through those who knew and loved him.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Tammy Thompson (Pat) and Dawn Payne (Brian); four grandchildren, Jason (MyLisa), Toby (Shauna), Nicholas (McKenzie), Jessica; nine great-grandchildren, AdahLisa, Forest, Madison, Gracee, Colt, Nicholas Jr., Noah, Amelia, Annaliese; and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; parents, Walter and Flora Shuff; son, Anthony and daughter, Crystal. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
