Larry Grant Smith, 77, of Durham, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024. He was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. The son of the late Cecil Elwood Smith and Madgie Gibbs Smith.
He worked at Montgomery Ward at South Square Mall and Stock Builders in Raleigh where he retired. He loved his family and the Lord. He was an active member at Evangel Assembly of God for 30+ years, teaching Sunday School and was always cooking for the congregation.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his first wife Pamela Madonna Smith.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife Teresa Smith, sons Larry Smith (Tammy), Jeff Smith (Belinda), stepdaughters Kim Perry (Tim), and Heather Browning, his grandchildren Hayden Smith (Layla), Collin Smith (Madison) Lauren Smith, Evan Smith, Carter Perry, Chase Perry, Caitlin Westbrook, great grandchildren Auggie Smith, Nash Smith, Lydia Smith, Walker Smith. His siblings Terry Smith (Wanda), Gary Smith (Donna), Barry Smith (Lisa), Patricia Young (Alan), and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wes Shephard, Todd Stutts, Mark Sykes, Rick Pendergrass, Stephen Clegg and Steve Turner.The family will receive family and friends on Monday, March 11, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at Evangel Assembly of God 1011 Lynn Rd. Durham, NC 27703. Officiating will be Pastor David Santiago. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
