He was born in Hillsboro, IL, on April 13, 1941, the son of Dale and Faye (Edwards) Sugg. Larry married Pamela Lucas on December 31, 1985, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills. She preceded him in death on November 14, 2017, after 32 years of marriage.
Larry is a United States Marine Corp Veteran. He was also a volunteer fireman for Meadowbrook in the 1970's. He enjoyed being with family whether it be holiday get togethers, reminiscing and visiting childhood stomping grounds with his 2nd cousin Pat Bond, playing canasta, pinocle, or just being a kid again when the grandkids where around. He enjoyed collecting coins, metal detecting, fishing at Town & Country Lakes, fishing in local carp derbies, being an assistant coach for his daughter's Koury league softball team to watching his favorite teams-New York Yankees, Seattle Seahawks, and the Fighting Irish Notre Dame and NCAA March Madness tournaments. He like aggravating all his care givers (professional or not) which knew to have chocolate on hand was a must. He was a regular at the Eagle's Nest where the aggravation fun would continue. He loved dogs and donated yearly to St. Francis Care Animal shelter. He especially loved listening to old country music, sock hop rock n roll, watching westerns and WWII movies. He also enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his children, Diana (Joe Cambron) Sugg of Meadowbrook, Jack "Duke" (Alissa) McCutcheon of Bettendorf, Iowa, Joeli (Kevin) Lanigan of Elsah, and Melodi (Wayne) Royer of Mitchell; (9) grandchildren, Dylan (Paige Sparks) Sugg, Wesley McCutcheon, Cady (Austin Speed) McCutcheon, Lacie (Kaleb James) McCutcheon, Jackie McCutcheon, Elizabeth Householder, Andrew (Devin) Householder, Amanda Royer, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Royer, (16) great grandchildren, Siblings, Shirley Louder of West Springfield, MA, Gary (Janie) Sugg of Greenville, Il, Teri (Steve) Kern of Iuka, Il, Mike Sugg (Jody K) of Mulberry Grove, Il and Mark (Natoma) Sugg of Mulberry Grove, Il., numerous nieces and nephews, friend/former wife Carol Rives of Greenville, Il, and his beloved dog Bunny Bo aka known as The Bunz.
Along with his parents and love of his life Pamela, he was preceded in death by his known-mother, Nelda (Bingham) Sugg; a granddaughter, Chelsea Royer; brother, Ronald Sugg; brother-in-law, Darrell Louder, and nephew Josh Kern.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 1 pm until time of service at 4 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Pastor Kevin Auten will officiate.
