Larry E. Thomson, 85, of Kahoka, Missouri formally of Williamstown, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Northeast Regional Medical Center, in Kirksville, Missouri.
Larry was born on June 5, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa, to Walter and Dorothy (Suter) Thomson. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sharon (Weiss) Thomson on December 17, 1976, in Hannibal, Missouri, and she survives.
Larry graduated from Clark County High School in 1956. In 1990, Larry along with his wife Sharon were the owner and operator of the Bargain Corner in Kahoka, Missouri. When Larry took a trip for merchandise for the store he would drop off clothing that residents donated and took it to the Indian Reservation on his way to Mexico. They retired from the store in 2010 and appreciated the friendships they made in their 20 years of having the business. Larry loved going to flea markets and would spend the whole day finding a bargain. Larry traveled extensively on his bike and had traveled to 48 states. Larry, along with some other friends, was proud when he travelled a thousand miles in one day on his bike. Later in years Larry did Jail Ministry for Lewis and Clark County. Larry never missed a meal, he was simple, he cared about others, and he loved his Lord.
Larry is survived by his wife Sharon of 48 years, a daughter Janet (Dan) Calandro of Indianapolis, IN, his precious grandchildren Tyler (Alisha) Thomson, Whitney Thomson, Andrew Calandro, Joe Calandro, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Gustav and Alta Weiss, and a son Gary Thomson.
According to his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no visitation or service. Private inurnment will take place in the Ballard Cemetery. Memorials in memory of Larry E Thomson are suggested to the Ballard Cemetery and may be left or mailed to Wilson & Triplett funeral Home.
