Larry Tuschhoff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by HeartLight Funeral Services - Cedar City on Feb. 24, 2023.
Larry Nelson Tuschhoff, 88, passed peacefully from this life into the arms of Jesus on February 17, 2023 in his home. He was born on April 15, 1934 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the son of Edwin Clarence Tuschhoff and Edna Lorene McLaughlin Tuschhoff.
From 1952 to 1956 he served in the U. S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic, receiving his GED during his enlistment. When stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base near Rapid City, South Dakota, he met the former Miss Velma Irene Carriger at a church camp. They were married in Rapid City, South Dakota on October 3, 1954.
Larry and Velma moved back to Cape Girardeau upon his discharge from the Air Force. He became employed as a serviceman with Missouri Utilities (currently Ameren) and was relocated to Dexter, MO, where they lived until his retirement after more than 30 years of service. After retiring, Larry and Velma moved to a little country farm near Cabool, MO, in the community of Fairview, where he built their home and lived for 20 years. When his health began to decline, they moved to Bolivar, MO to be nearer to family and health care. After a visit with relatives, Larry and Velma made the decision to move to Cedar City, Utah, where they remained until his death.
Larry accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and lived faithfully for Him all his life, serving in churches he and Velma attended as his health allowed. He was a loving husband and father, protector and friend. Being mechanically inclined, he was a fixer of broken things, whether the problem was a cranky carburetor or a knot in a daughter's necklace. He was an avid gardener and grew the best green beans and tomatoes. He also loved woodworking, camping and bluegrass music. More than anything, he loved helping out his family, friends and neighbors and would give you the shirt off his back. In his later years, he was a charmer of health care personnel with a smile that no one could resist.
Larry was preceded in death by his son, Edwin Howard Tuschhoff, and brothers David Miles Tuschhoff and Ronald Mack Tuschhoff.
Surviving are wife Velma Irene Tuschhoff of the home, daughters Patricia Tuschhoff Petri and her husband Nick, of Dunnegan, MO; Cynthia Ann Davis of Springfield, MO; and Mary Elizabeth Trampler, of Cedar City, UT; three grandchildren, Jessica Davis and husband Jay Ruiz, John Cole and wife Taylor Cole, and Aeron Davis and fiancée Priscilla Parker; great-grandchildren Zachariah Presley Davis, Alexzandr Malachi Ruiz-Davis, Avery Marie Cole, and Peyton Jean Cole.
There will be no funeral services at Larry's request.
The family would like to thank Sun Tree Home Health and Hospice, especially Ethan Bunker, RN, and Janelle Brown, RN, for providing such loving care to Larry and the family. Thanks also to Cedar City Cancer Clinic, where he enjoyed many a warm blanket and a cold Diet Coke
