Lawrence D. Veach, affectionately known as Larry, of Hillsboro, Ohio, passed away on May 22, 2025, at Highland District Hospital. Born on August 10, 1946, in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Larry retired after 31 years of dedicated service at Emory Air Freight. His retirement gave him time to enjoy traveling, camping, and fishing. He attended the First Church of God in Germantown.
Larry is survived by his best friend, soulmate, fiancee, Sandy Ogdan, who shared countless moments of happiness and adventure with him. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Jo Veach, and nephews, Steve Allen Veach, Gary Lee VanDyke, and niece, Amanda VanDyke, and special cousins, Gerald, Peanuts, and Chetty Thayer. He is survived by best friends Ralph and Janice Flowers, with whom he shared many unforgettable memories and his good friends and neighbors, Pastor Mark and Mary Smith. Larry also had a special bond with Sandy's daughter, Anna Ogdan, for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Allen and Irene (Bivens) Veach, his sister, Sharon Kay VanDyke, brother James Frederick Veach, and Uncle Joe and Aunt Delores Dixon.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ledrew and Dr. Michael Beason for managing Larry’s vision care for over 40 years. Thank you to Dr. Ballinger and his medical staff, and the staff at Highland District Hospital for their exceptional care.
A visitation will be held on May 29, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Arpp, Root, Carter Funeral Home, located at 29 N. Main Street, Germantown, Ohio. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Larry will then be laid to rest during a graveside service at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville, Ohio, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the First Church of God, 760 Farmersville Pike, Germantown OH 45327.
