Once, an incredibly special man was born who was destined to change the world.
Calm down, of course that man wasn't Larry, it was Jesus.
Nevertheless, Larry Nolan Weaver arrived on August 23, 1954 in Marysville, KS. He grew to be sarcastic, impulsive, and easily distracted, yet Jesus loved him anyway and decided to redeem Larry as much as Larry would allow Him to.
After graduating from Cañon City High School ('72), Larry frustrated many employers and co-workers throughout his secular employment at Stan's Construction, Sunset Drive-in, Coast-to-Coast Hardware, M&E Komac Paint store, Rayer Paint Supply, The Florence Citizen, Safeway, Printing Plus, and First National Bank/Sunflower Bank with his all-time favorite supervisor, Claudine Paolino and many fun colleagues.
Larry's ministry career started as a volunteer youth leader at First United Methodist Church and New Life Southern Baptist Church. He then was a salaried Youth Director at First United Presbyterian Church, Christian Family Fellowship, Evangelical Free Church, and ultimately (and joyfully) as Pastor at First Baptist Church; all of these in Cañon City.
Larry also was humbled to assist with summer camps at Horn Creek in Westcliffe, Cañon City Tiger Pride Booster Club, the CCHS Senior Fun Fest and services at Holt Family Funeral Home. In 2002, the Chamber of Commerce honored Larry as the "Distinguished Citizen of the Year" in Cañon City.
Larry went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2023. He is survived by his beloved and ideal wife, Shirley Joann "Jo"; his sons, Andrew (Alexis), Zane, his German son, Fabian (Larissa) Klee. Also surviving is his favorite grandson, Lincoln and his favorite granddaughters, Maddy, Essie, Lorelai, and Roe Lynn Weaver, Julia Klee and his "bonus" grandchildren, Tristan, Tyler, Angelo and Kaleesi Merlino; his quintessential mother, Edna May Weaver; his brother, Bruce; in-laws, Jerry and Sandy Jones and Mike and Judy Lohnes; uncles, aunts and cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, from the Weaver, Miller and Jones families; his First Baptist family and his dogs, Elliott and Amber.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Stanley "Stan" Weaver; brother, Richard "Ricky" Weaver; grandparents, Roy & Alice (Tucker) Miller and Wallace & Iva (Jones) Weaver; father and mother-in-law, Bill & Jean Jones; and sister-in-law, Debbie, many close friends and many, many cherished dogs.
A typical funeral would have pallbearers to carry the dead body, but it seems more fitting to acknowledge some of the "pal bearers" that helped carry Larry through his life, including, but not limited to: Ron & Kim Reese, Cody McKibbin, Brad & Shae Graff, Jeff & Shireen Barrett, David Fredrickson, Barb Creel, Scott Pell, Michael Middleton, Craig Johnson, Austin Knicely, Blair Landreneau, Jim Merson, Aimee McKibbin, Shad Johnson, Mary Kay and John Evans, Don and Beth Winn and Bill and Jennifer Wood (he has been a close friend for over 65 years) plus a TON of loving relatives!
A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Canon City High School.
In lieu of flowers, please take a teenager to lunch. Thanks, Larry.

The world has lost a wonderful man, but heaven has gained a Saint. I will forever cherish the memories I have of Larry. He impacted my life for Christ and I know for so very many others, too. What a great legacy he has left behind that will live on for eternity. Thank you, Larry, for loving us so well, and for your faithful service to the Lord! Thank you, JoAnn and family, for sharing him with us, and for supporting him in his ministry. May Jesus wrap his arms around you and hold you close, and God's grace and peace surround you. With much love and heartfelt sympathy - Chris Egland

We loved Larry deeply, and are so grateful that he was part of Ron's life for over 50 years, and part of Kim's for 43 years. He will forever be remembered as making our children and us laugh so hard and we all know he loved us unconditionally. Great race, Larry. You have made it to the finish line, first place!

A loss--is a loss--in this case--my son--gone much too soon but thankfully now is no longer in painful discomfort--which, tho, I deeply prayed to be able to give him relief from--was not in my ability--that was only in the hands of his and our Lord--whom he looked forward to being with as his goal and his main accomplishment.. Love. always , Mom
