Larry B. West, 77, of Sulphur Rock died Friday, December 28, 2018. He was born February 28, 1941 in Dowdy, Arkansas to Thurman Boyce and Georgiana Phillips West. He served as Independence County Sheriff from 1987-1989, and attended the Moorefield United Methodist Church. Larry was a family man, loving husband and the best Daddy to his girls. He loved Jesus and the Light always shone through him. He was kind, compassionate, generous and fiercely loyal to those he loved. He laughed easily and had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and by many.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Dolores West of the home; four daughters, Angelina West Spiegel (Derek) of Jonesboro, Katrina West Halpain (Danny) of Mountain View, Rachelle West of Little Rock, and Sonia West of the home; one granddaughter, Rosie Grace Spiegel of Jonesboro; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel with Derek L. Spiegel Ed. S., CRC, LPC officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery located at Dowdy.


Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be Derek Spiegel, Chris Hardin, Billy Littleton, Brian Coleman, Will Stephenson, Jim West, Adam West, and Cameron Wood.


Honorary Pallbearers are Marvin West, Pat Thompson, Edgar Shields, Barry Phillips, Gary Phillips, Terry Meitzen, Ron Webb, Paula Kesterson, and April Tress.
