Larry Olen Young, 88, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 surrounded by the quiet comfort of those who loved him.
Born on October 13, 1937 on Success Road in Reedsville, Ohio. Larry lived a life defined not by grandeur, but by steady devotion, honest work, and simple joys. He believed in doing what needed to be done, lending a hand without being asked, and finding happiness in the everyday blessings many overlook.
For many years, he worked for the Meigs County Highway Department, providing faithfully for his family. He took pride in a job well done and carried himself with humility and integrity. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, it mattered.
He found contentment in the simple pleasures of life — tending a garden, drinking a Coca Cola or sitting quietly on the porch at the end of the day. He did not seek attention or praise; his satisfaction came from knowing his family was cared for and his responsibilities were met.
He was a devoted husband to Nettie Powell Young, a loving father to Lori Harris and Lita (Steve) Ohlinger, and a steady presence in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren Steven (Lin) Harris, Morgan (Nick) Hudson, Katie (Kaytlin) Harris, Shelby (Brandon) Bowling, Dillyn Ohlinger and great-grandchildren River Harris, Kyndal Ohlinger and Jenson Brown. Larry is also survived by his sister Judy Weber, sister-in-law Janice Young along with several nieces and nephews. His love was shown more through actions than words.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents Olen and Josephine Young, brothers Ray, Bob, and Gene, brother-in-law Charles Weber and son-in-law Mike Harris.
Those who knew him will remember his strong handshake, his dependable nature, and the calm reassurance he brought into a room. His life reminds us that greatness is often found in kindness, consistency, and quiet faithfulness.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Success Cemetery officiated by Adam Will.
In honoring his life, we remember a good man who asked for little, gave much, and left this world better simply by being in it.
