In Loving Memory of Lascelles Bancroft Wisdom 1/09/1944 – 3/30/2025
Lascelles Bancroft Wisdom, 81, passed away on March 30, 2025, in Converse TX. Son of Hubert Wisdom and Effie Johnson, he was born on January 9th, 1944, in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica West Indies. He immigrated to the United States where he settled for a time in the Bronx NY, before joining the United States Army in 1965, attaining the rank of Specialist Fourth Class, serving proudly during the Vietnam-era until his honorable discharge in 1967. As a scholar he got his Master of Science Degree with distinction in Environmental Technology from New York Institute of Technology, while working with the Long Island Lighting Company until his retirement.
He was also awarded a certificate of completion at the Kerpel School of Dental Technology. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, coaching youth soccer, training horses, and watching collegiate and professional sports; his greatest joy was watching his son and grandsons competing in sporting events on the local, collegiate, national, and world stages.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Hurbert and Effie, his sibling Howard, his son Richard and grandson Bryce. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years Netilda and children: Clifton, Lorraine, Howard, Peter, Cristina, Diana, his grandchildren: Sean, Rashad, Myles, D'Andre, William, David, Daryl, Heather, Matthew, Jamielle, Jillian, Bailey, Shawn, and great grandchildren: Kaylie, Gray, Max, and Axel.
Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery, at Pavilion 3, on Monday April 21, 2025, at 2:30pm. Viewing for family and friends will be from 10am to 2pm at the funeral home: Funeral Caring USA, 1661 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. Flowers may also be sent to the viewing location.
