La Shona has been one of my closest friends since 1999. Her phone calls and Facebook messages and posts never wavered as my own health declined and I was unable to be very present in her life. She was the one friend who never dropped the ball even though it was a slippery one for me. I will forever love and miss her shining lobe for people and life and well...me. She was a very bright light when everything was turning so dark. I tried to be that for her in her final months. She loved very deeply and it came through in her smile and her excitement and her loyal constant presence with a simple "Have a beautiful day" or "Good night my friend, Love you". I wish I could have been there. I tried. I hope it was enough. I will forever miss this friendship and the loss of thus beautiful human has dimmed the world of such a light that can never be replicated. Goodnight my friend. May you rest in paradise with your Grams, your dad, your brother and of course...Ocean. I hope you're at the beach with all of them.

I was LaShona´s counselor at George Washington High School. She was a very caring and loving woman. I will miss her phone calls and our long conversations. A light in my life has gone out.
