Evelyn McLagan Obituary

Evelyn (Babe) Packard McLagan, 94, of Denver, CO, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Denver on April 7, 1931, to Dr. George B. Packard and Evelyn Summerton Packard. She was married to J. Neil McLagan for more than 70 years prior to his passing in 2024.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Babe lived a full and generous life. She was selfless, caring, and supportive, always making everyone she encountered feel valued and important.
Babe attended the University of Colorado, majoring in business, but she was a social worker at heart. She devoted more than 20 years to the Denver Children's Home, serving on the Board of Directors, the Foundation Board, and as Director of Intake. Her commitment to children and families was a guiding force throughout her life.
A lifelong learner, Babe took advantage of the free classes offered at the Auraria Campus for those over 60, enrolling in two to three college courses each year for more than 30 years. Her love of learning and curiosity about the world never faded.
Equally enduring was her devotion to friendship. She remained in close touch with her beloved "Kindergarten Group," a circle of friends who shared nearly ninety years of life's journey together. Babe was known for her kindness, thoughtful listening, and the genuine care she extended to everyone around her.
Her legacy continues through her three sons and their spouses: Scott McLagan and Barbara Kreisman, Tom and Lisa McLagan, and Ken and Annie McLagan; her six grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Nicole McLagan, Maggie McLagan and Parker Fales, Ali McLagan, Bailey McLagan, Abby McLagan, and Graham McLagan; and her three great-grandchildren, Skylar, Izzy, and Bennett McLagan. Her spirit of independence, curiosity, kindness, and compassion will live on in all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Broadway Market (950 Broadway) on Wednesday, November 12th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Denver Children's Home or to an organization meaningful to you.
