Launa Addington Sims, 83, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026. She was born in Lakemont, Georgia, Rabun County on May 1, 1942, to the late J.O. Addington and Launa Worley Addington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael D. Addington; son, D. Edward Alexander Jr.; daughter, Kristen L. Alexander.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ron M. Sims; daughter, Susan A. (Steven) Overby; step daughter, Kim (Ricky) Hughes; son, Bryan J. Alexander; sister in law, Martha Addington; grandchildren, Andrea E. Alexander, Cameron M. Alexander, S. Jay Overby, Kristen N. (Robert) McDonald; step grandchildren, Darren C. (Kirstin) Holden, Jack W. Hughes; great-grandchildren, Avery Alexander, Audrey Overby, Anna McDonald, Graham McDonald; step grandchildren, Ryan Noble, Kate Noble; step great-grandchildren, Colton Holden, Grayson Holden.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. A Memorial service will follow the visitation at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Max Brannon and Sons funeral home with Revs. Scott Shephard and Stacy Hensley officiating.
