Laura Baca Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by South Park Funeral Home and Cemetery - Pearland on Jan. 16, 2024.
October 8, 1931 - January 9, 2024
Laura Wood Baca passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at her home in Pearland, Texas due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She had a blessed life of ninety-two years. She was a devoted wife to Eddie Baca and mother of Leslie Baca and Edward Baca.
Mrs. Baca grew up in Woodville, Mississippi and graduated from Woodville High School, where she was a cheerleader and played on the basketball team. As a young adult, she moved to Houston to be close to her sister. It was there that she met her Texas cowboy, Eddie, and they were married in 1951. They welcomed two children, Leslie and Edward, and Laura watched, supported, and enjoyed being a part of their childhood activities. She also worked for the City of Pearland in the water department for 15 years and was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church Pearland.
Laura had a beautiful, positive outlook on life and always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed attending social events with friends, attending bunco and meetings of the "Red Hat Society." She was known for wearing the color purple and loving to eat out, especially enjoying anything chocolate. She never lost that "Southern" charm and will always be remembered for her big smile and fun times. Losing her has left a huge hole in the hearts of her family, but we are so thankful for our sweet memories with her.
Visitation will be at the South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N. Main, Pearland, TX, 77581, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. The burial will be at the South Park Cemetery immediately following the funeral service, with a reception at First United Methodist Church Pearland, 2314 N. Grand Blvd. Pearland, TX, 77581, afterwards.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org) or the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org.)
