Laura Fuller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Feb. 26, 2026.
Laura May Yingling Nelson Fuller, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Laura was born on August 18, 1938, in Gooding, Idaho, the middle child of Johnie and Ruby Yingling. She was raised in Idaho and Oregon, where she developed the faith, resilience, and optimism that would define her life.

In 1947, Laura became the first member of her family to join and be baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her testimony of Jesus Christ shaped her life and became the foundation of her devoted service to others.

In 1957, Laura attended Brigham Young University, where she pursued an education in nursing. While at BYU, she met the love of her life, Gordon B. Nelson. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 17, 1958.

After Gordon completed his education, he was stationed at Fort Lewis near Olympia, Washington, in the early 1960s during the Berlin Wall Crisis, serving to backfill stateside positions while regular Army units were deployed overseas. In 1964, they moved to North Salt Lake and later settled in the Olympus Cove area.

Together, Laura and Gordon built a large and loving family. Their first child, Ladawn, was born in 1959 and in the 1960s, they welcomed Paul, Laurett, Daniel, Leahmay, and Laria, who was born in 1969 with special needs. Laura devoted more than 50 years to lovingly care for Laria. In the 1970s, Kenneth, Stephen, Lalani, and Joseph joined the family, and in 1980 their youngest child, Lonna, was born.

When Gordon passed away in 1996, Laura looked forward with faith to their reunion in the eternities. A few years later, she met and married Conrad Reed Fuller, who was her faithful companion for more than 20 years until his passing in 2020.

Laura was known in her neighborhoods and congregations as a woman of endless optimism and unwavering faith. She had an insatiable desire to share the gospel of Jesus Christ through her testimony, charity, and Christlike service. She remained active, social, and engaged throughout her life. For the last six years, she was a beloved and vibrant member of the community at Olympus Ranch Retirement Living Center, where she was considered a pillar and friend to many.

Laura is survived by her eleven children, more than 40 grandchildren, and more than 40 great-grandchildren.
