Laura M. Houpt, age 93, of Swartz Creek, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025. Visitation will be held at 11am until the time of the Memorial Service at 2pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes - Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road in Swartz Creek. For those wishing to write the family condolences you may do so by visiting her obituary which can be found at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations in Laura's name may send them to The Alzheimer's Association.
Laura was born on January 28, 1932 in Swartz Creek, Michigan to the late Elbert & Elsie (Marsa) Withey. She attended Swartz Creek High School, class of 1949. Laura was employed at General Motors for 30 years she then worked for EDS and retired in 1987. For many years Laura played golf and bowled on various women's leagues. She and her good friend, Virginia, were golf partners for over 15 years. Laura could never sit still she loved to take Curves classes with her friend, Virginia, and was always ready for a walk in the neighborhood. She followed the Michigan football, The Tigers and the Linden Eagles. Laura "Gramms" loved her grand boys and great grandchildren with all her heart. She made it her life's mission to attend all the football, baseball and basketball games she most possibly could. She was known for supplying the best "after game snacks"; she went overboard with lots of cut fruits, sub sandwich's and everyone's personal favorite Gatorade flavors.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Denise Lowden and Debra (Russell) Carney; five grandsons, Marty Hull II, Alexander Hull, Travis (Crystal) Hull, Russell (fiancé Alexandra Earns) Carney and Ryan Carney and seven great-grandchildren, Virginia, Jayden, Taylor, Zander, Brady, Lucas and Vivienne. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert (Elsie) Withey; infant brother, Leslie Raymond Withey; brothers, Robert (Pat) Withey and Harold Withey.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Jesse. Jesse took excellent care of Laura for three years she even considered him family.
