Laura Kehl (née Emma), 58, of Roselle, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born and raised in Schaumburg, Illinois, Laura was the cherished daughter of Katherine and John Emma. She is survived by her mother, Katherine Emma; her former husband, Keith Kehl, who lovingly cared for her during her illness; her brother Karl and his wife Diana (née Reinhardt); and was a beloved aunt to John Emma (Dee Dee), Michael Emma, Amy Kehl, Dana Holt (née Kehl), Timothy Kehl, and Samantha Musilek (née Kehl). She was also a proud great-aunt to Addie, Hunter, and Gunner.
Laura was a devoted mother to her twins, Madison and Milo. Her greatest joy was watching them grow into their own unique paths in music and art. She encouraged them to explore who they were and to pursue happiness above all. Her pride in them was unmistakable-her smile would light up the room whenever she spoke of them. As they've grown, it's clear they embody many of their mother's wonderful traits. Family was everything to Laura. Even after her separation, she and Keith remained committed to family traditions, sharing dinners and vacations together. She was an adventurer at heart, always seeking out unique places to stay-especially if there was shopping involved, her second love. Laura also cherished time spent at the beach, particularly along Lake Michigan. Her beloved dog, Porsha, was her constant companion, never tiring of sunbathing beside her or following her every step.
Laura was known for her gratitude, her knack for organization, and her ability to whip up a quick dinner or an unforgettable dessert. She embraced life with curiosity and joy, always eager to try something new.
She earned her undergraduate degree from DePaul University and later received her Paralegal certification from Loyola University Chicago. Laura was also a founding member of the Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew, a role that reflected her vibrant spirit and love for community.
Laura's legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, family, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
