Laura Lea Mirelez
(nee Bettenhausen)
Laura Lea Mirelez, 65, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, in Joliet, the city where she was born and spent her life. Laura was born on July 16, 1960, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Wayne and Lois Bettenhausen. She was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. Laura grew up in a close-knit family and remained rooted in the community that shaped her. Throughout her life, she was known for her friendly nature and the ease with which she connected to those around her.
For numerous years, Laura worked as a bartender at Off Track Betting in Joliet, where her warmth, humor, and welcoming spirit made her a familiar and well-loved face. She also worked in other GNC establishments in Joliet, building many lasting friendships along the way and offering a kind word or listening ear to patrons and coworkers alike.
Laura is survived by her brother, Lawrence (Wayne) Bettenhausen; her longtime boyfriend, Daniel Krumwiede; and her best friend, Kathy Kongprichia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Linda Johnson.
Funeral Services for Laura Lee Mirelez will be held privately by the family. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
