Laura Pauline McElvany Summarell, lovingly known as “Mama” and “Granny” to her family and “Polly” to friends, passed away peacefully in her home on January 17, 2026, surrounded by the people she cherished most her four children.
Born on September 19, 1935, to Cora McElvany and Millard McElvany, Pauline lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unforgettable spirit. She was a bright light of joy to everyone who knew her and, as she would proudly tell you, “everyone loved her to death.”
She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Charles Summarell with whom she shared 50 years of marriage until his passing in 2002. Their unique love story was the foundation of the family she so deeply treasured.
