Laura Lee Williams, 72, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 2:06 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Star Lake, New York on June 5, 1952, to the late Norman and Margaret (Mayhew) Howes.
On July 9, 1977, she married Gregg Williams in Lima Ohio, and he survives in Bellefontaine.
She is also survived by her children, Stephen (Samantha) Williams, Todd Williams, and Ruth (Noah Jackson) Williams; grandchildren, Oliver, and Alessa; and loved by many others.
Laura constantly served others. First, as a teen, babysitting, something she would do well into her 60s. Laura was a caregiver in a nursing home, and privately. Most notably, especially by her children and many friends, she worked at House of Szechuan in Downtown Bellefontaine for almost a decade until it changed hands. Laura’s last job was at The Homecoming Restaurant, doing dishes, where she made lots of friends and always brought home soup or pie for the family to enjoy.
In June, Laura had her 72nd birthday. Then in July we celebrated her and Gregg’s 47th wedding anniversary. Laura was a beam of sunshine and joy. A social butterfly, as many called her. Animals and children radiated to her bright warmth. She enjoyed coloring and sharing her art with her friends and the community. The constant pain Laura had to endure never stopped her from making you laugh or making sure she checked on you. A moment of relief is knowing that she can stand up and walk to join all our loved ones who have also passed on.
We will always love you. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do, and don’t get caught”, as she always said.
