Laurel Blackwell Obituary

Laurel L. Notice Blackwell, affectionately known as "Chin"/ "Aunt Chin" peacefully passed away at the age of 99. She was born in Down Lodge, Saint Ann, Jamaica to Zephaniah Notice and Angelica Wilson Notice. After finishing her schooling, she worked at the Seaga's Store in Kingston, Jamaica - a business connected with Edward Seaga, Jamaica's Prime Minister.

Laurel later immigrated to the United States, where she built a life marked by devotion to her family, her community, and her faith.. She was a voracious reader of her Bible and a member of Russel Temple

In the U.S., she worked at W. T. Grant and McCrory's, both well- known department store chains in Connecticut that sold a wide range of household goods, clothing and general merchandise.

She married Lonnie E Blackwell in 1970, and they were together for 48 loving years until his passing on February 10, 2018. Following his death, Laurel lived in Florida for a number of years, near where one of her siblings Darwin Robert Notice and a nephew Alvin Ainsley Notice resided, before returning to Connecticut, close to where her final destination was to be, and where she passed peacefully.

Laurel loved to travel, exploring many countries. She delighted in music, bingo, crossword puzzles, window shopping, and sampling different foods especially Red Lobster. Above all, she was devoted to her family and church community, leaving a legacy of love, joy and faith.

She was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Lonnie E Blackwell, and her siblings, Edison Notice, Austin Notice, Oswin Notice, Vincent Notice and Harvey Notice. She is survived by her siblings Darwin Notice and Erica Notice Simpson loving family members, nieces, nephews, and a host of cherished friends who will continue to honor her life and the values she lived by.

My sweet friend, you have left me broken. I will miss you. You were my bestie for almost 20 years. I pray we will meet again and will live with only good memories of you. Take your rest my dear, l love you but God loves you more. RIP.
