Sandy Bruce

Kassandra Romane Bruce was born June 28, 1953 to Edward Stanley "Buggs" Kennedy, Jr., and Virginia "Tiny" Bruce Calhoun. This beautiful woman, also known as "Sandy" to family and friends entered eternal rest March 16, 2026 at Northbridge Health Care Center.

Sandy was raised by her fathers grandmother and grandfather Girlene Kennedy and Edward Kennedy Sr. She was a resident of Bridgeport for 72 years. She attended Roosevelt School, Central Hight School, and Housatonic Community College for 2 years for Business Administration.

Sandy always shopped and bought the finest clothes; she wore them well. Sandy was very pretty and smart with a beautiful smile and laugh. She could sing well she started a singing group in the early 70's but got distracted (too much attention from the boys; such is life in the inner city). That singing talent came from her father who was also in a group in the 60's called the Carnation of Yellow Mill Village, later named Father Panik Village. The group won the talent show at the Apollo 6 weeks straight to become one of Americas music groups to be recognized in music history.

Sandy's later life was raising kids; enjoying brothers and sisters from both the Calhoun's and the Kenndy's; she always had her hands full being a early mother and big sister. She did it well with being an example on how to carry yourself in public.

Sandy was a avid reader and great with crossword puzzles and word search up until her last days. She enjoyed watching Westerns and Soaps and had a memory like an elephant. She was the go to family member who remembers everyone's birthday; including aunts, uncles cousins and friends.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents and her son, Joshua Jones, sisters and brothers, Anita Calhoun, James Calhoun, Stacey Calhoun, Tonya Hendricks, Raymond Calhoun

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, 2 sons and a daughter, Lacard Jones, Orion Jones and LaToya Bruce; a lifelong providing father of her sons, David Jones; Sonya Lee, Michael Kennedy, Teresa Wilson (Sam) Karen Kennedy, Crystal Dukes-Caban, Joann Kennedy, Cora Lisa Taylor, Mona Stephenson, Edward Kennedy and a host of nephews, nieces who will cherish her memory.

Sandy you are truly missed already.
