Laurel March Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Laurel Elaine March, who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born on December 3, 1951, in Wenatchee, WA, to Ada and Leonard Moore, Laurel's life was one of love and connection.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Doris and Lois. Laurel is survived by her cherished son, Tim, her beloved sisters, Ellen, Nancy, Leona, and Evelyn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Laurel spent her early years in Waterville, where she loved sharing a story about drawing on her grandmother Olga Melcher's wall with a red crayon. At the age of three, she moved to Chesaw, and later, at nine, she relocated to Omak, where she would spend the rest of her life.
A true ranch girl at heart, Laurel had a passion for riding horses and was an active member of the Ghost Riders Drill Team, participating in parades and rodeos until graduating high school in 1970.
At 24, she welcomed her only son, Tim March, and supported him in 4-H until his high school graduation. While working with Tim in 4-H, she helped him learn all about baking and how to make award winning apple pies. She continued in 4-H to assist with horse camp and various activities for many years afterward.
For over 20 years, Laurel worked at East Omak Elementary and Omak High School, serving delicious lunches to students. Her passions included horses, embroidery, scrapbooking, word searches, gardening, and spending time with her son Tim. Her favorite place to eat was the Breadline Café, where she really liked their Washington's Best Salad. She also liked cherry pie and ice cream, as well as cheeseburgers from McDonald's and Dairy Queen. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching classic television shows like The Golden Girls and Mike and Molly, as well as nature programs and golf. If not watching TV, she could be found listening to her favorite country music or the Old-Time Fiddlers Group, where her mother played the button accordion.
Laurel will be dearly missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her. Please join us for a Celebration of Life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at River Valley Funeral Home, located at 2547 Elmway St., Okanogan, WA, 98840. Laurel will be laid to rest alongside her parents at Okanogan Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Following the service, all are invited to a potluck dinner at the park in Omak for those who wish to attend.
