Lauren "Laurie" Dade (Little) Appelt, 62, a life-long resident of Perry Hall, MD, passed away peacefully on Easter morning, April 20, 2025 at her home after a two-and-a-half-year hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma. Laurie previously survived T-Cell Lymphoma cancer in 2016. Born February 5, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence C. Little and Lisabeth Ann (Davis) Little. She was the youngest of four sisters.
She is survived by her two sons, Kyle M. Appelt and Trevor A. Appelt (Natalie), her long-time partner, James L. Adrian, her stepson, Tyler J. Adrian, and her sister Cynthia L. Larsh (William) of Waynesboro, PA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Deborah A. Ports and Lisabeth C. Cates.
She was a graduate of Perry Hall Senior High School in 1981 where she ran track, played the French Horn in band, and developed a life-long interest in photography after winning the best photo award in her senior year. She earned a Bachelor's degree in marketing from Salisbury State University in 1985. She retired from the Social Security Administration in December 2022.
Laurie was a loving, caring, and thoughtful mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She always tried to make others feel special. She was kind and generous to everyone she knew. Laurie led an active life. She loved traveling, biking, hiking, and was quite the water skier in her younger days. She loved her dog, Zoey, and enjoyed their walks at the Honeygo Run Regional Park. She always took pride in her job and enjoyed the company of her co-workers. She was a voracious reader. She enjoyed playing cards, game nights and crafting get-togethers with family and friends.
Laurie was a fighter showing great perseverance battling her cancer. She loved life. The bravery and grace she displayed throughout her ordeal was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. Laurie loved her family and friends dearly. Her sweet and fun-loving nature will be missed by all. May she rest in peace.
A private graveside service and celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
