Lauren Stottlemyer Obituary

Lauren Donald Stottlemyer, 61, of Carroll Valley, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at his home.

Born September 11, 1962, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Leister B. Stottlemyer, Jr. and Mary Ann (Draper) Stottlemyer, of Smithsburg, MD.

Lauren was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, class of 1980.

He worked at Frick/Johnson Controls for over 43 years where he was known as "Jr." to his coworkers and friends.

He was a member of the Blue Ridge Sportsmen's Association, lifetime member of the National Rifle Association of America, and a supporter of the Veteran's and Disabled Veterans Causes.

Lauren was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a lover of all things outdoors. He was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Texas Longhorns. Lauren enjoyed playing and watching golf, attending Nascar races, and loved a good tailgate party with family and friends. He loved listening to a wide variety of music, especially when relaxing with his sons while sitting around their homemade firepit.

Lauren was a well-known "jokester," he brought laughter to many!

Lauren dreamed of owning his own log cabin in Tennessee, where he could sit with his black coffee, or a beer, while listening to the sounds of nature.

Lauren will be remembered and missed by his three sons, Jesse Stottlemyer (Kelsey) of Frederick, MD; Noah Stottlemyer, and Isaac Stottlemyer, both of Smithsburg MD; his siblings, Wayne Stottlemyer (Dani) of Gettysburg, PA; Norma Jean Aravanis (Tony) of Hagerstown, MD; Donna Kay Fogle (Jim) of Walkersville, MD; and Beverly Stottlemyer (John) of Hagerstown, MD; former wife and friend, Kristie Everett, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His kind heart and generous nature touched many lives.

Family will welcome friends for a visitation on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave, Smithsburg MD, 21783, and his Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:00 am at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Julie Brigham-Young. Interment will follow at Mt. Bethel Cemetery, Smithsburg, MD.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the "Wounded Warrior Project" of which Lauren was a supporter.

The world lost a very special person, warm hearted and kind and would do anything for a friend or a stranger. I went to school with Jr and worked with Jr and spent time in the woods with Jr. Not one bad word toward anyone. I was fortunate to have spent the day with Jr at my cabin in west virginia. It was a special day and we had a great day talking hunting and the new seasons to come. Hunting season will not be the same. I will miss Junior greatly. Junior is probably sitting in a blind or holding a fishing pole smiling down on us all.
