Laurence Weitzman
1937-2024
Laurence (Larry) Weitzman passed away after a long illness on March 30, 2024, at the
age of 87 surrounded by his family: his wife Myrna of 66 years and his three sons, Gary
(Randy), Bruce (Steve), and Kenneth (Debra).
Born on February 8, 1937, in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ruth
Weitzman. He is survived by his wife, his sons and their spouses, three grandchildren,
his brother Stephen (Eleanor), his brother-in-law Steven (Virginia) Mitchell, and many
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jerry Mitchell.
Larry spent his formative years in Boston where he graduated from Boston Latin School
and Brandeis University where he met his wife to be. While working for Westinghouse in
Pittsburgh, PA he went on to pursue a master's degree in chemical engineering. The
family later resided in Natick, MA for over 30 years. Larry and Myrna retired to Boynton
Beach, FL for the next 20 years. As his health failed, he and his wife moved to San
Diego, CA to be close to two of their sons where he passed away.
Larry cherished his role as husband and father and was a great friend to all who knew
him. Known for his kindness, generosity, and distinctive sense of humor, he was always
there with an outrageous pun and beautiful smile.
Larry will be remembered for his profound love for his family, his passion for sports, and
his love of dogs. He will be sorely missed. The family is grateful for the outpouring of
love and support during this difficult time. A private memorial service has already
occurred, and the family thanks everyone for the love and support given by all who
knew Larry.
