Laurene S. Ruff, 77, formerly of Ludington Township, rural Augusta, died Friday, January 9, 2026, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.

Laurene, daughter of Lawrence and Thelma (Bellows) Hagedorn was born September 17, 1948, and was raised with her 6 siblings in Ludington Township.

On Sept. 5, 1965, she was united in marriage to Larry Ruff at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The couple lived in the Fall Creek area before moving to Ludington Township in 1986. Following her husband's death on August 31, 2003, Laurene remained in her home until December 2024 when due to declining health she entered Grace Willowbrook Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

Laurene was a devoted stay at home mother, raising her three children and working on the farm, as her husband was an over the road truck driver. She took great pride in raising large vegetable gardens and enjoyed canning the produce for her family. For enjoyment, she liked playing a variety of games, especially cards. She also took pride in her large lawn, keeping both it and her flowerbeds well cared for.

Laurene is survived by her daughter, Angela (David) Zank of Canton, IL; 2 sons, Larry (Lucinda) Ruff and Daniel (Carrie) Ruff all of Fall Creek; 6 grandchildren: Justin, Joel, and Jared Zank; Kayla (Jason) Zimmerman, Ethen Ruff (Cora), and Peyten Ruff: 8 great-grandchildren: Colby, Claire, Carson, Dan, Bryce, Caleb, Delanie and Juniper.

She is further survived by two sisters, Shirley Shilts of Tennessee and Terry (Dennis) Barr of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; brother-in-law Steve Stack of Eau Claire; sisters-in-law, Barb Hagedorn of Chippewa Falls, Linda Hagedorn of Osseo; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Larry; Laurene was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Lawrence Hagedorn Jr, Phyllis Olson, Sandra Stack and Jerry Hagedorn; granddaughter-in-law Jaime Zank; great-grandson Zander Zank; and close friends, Emil and Carol Bauer.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, with burial in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Seymour Township. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Willowbrook for taking such wonderful care of Laurene while she was a part of their family.
