We gather in the memory of Lauretta Diann Jones, a woman whose life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and compassion. Lauretta, also known as Diann to her friends and family, was born on October 20, 1951, in Hannibal, Missouri, and passed away on November 27, 2025. Throughout her life, Lauretta demonstrated a remarkable strength and resilience that touched all who knew her. As the English author John Ruskin once said, "The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it."
Lauretta had a life-long passion for driving, which she turned into a successful career as a paratransit driver. Her intelligence and diligence saw her recognized as Employee of the Month on several occasions. Even in her retirement, Lauretta continued to enjoy driving, taking scenic drives through the beautiful landscapes of
Ogden, Utah, where she lived for 25 years. She also had a flair for woodburning and relished watching her favorite cooking shows. She was a woman of diverse interests, and her hobbies were a reflection of her multifaceted personality.
Lauretta was a rock of support for her family and friends. She was always there when you needed her, offering a broad shoulder to lean on and a compassionate ear to listen. A supportive wife and a dedicated mother, the heart of her world was her husband Frank, whom she married on April 10, 1981, and her daughter Brenda, and son Robert Royal Jones. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Majors, and her mother, Vernia Majors. As poet Maya Angelou once said, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." This sentiment rings true for Lauretta's life. She will forever be remembered for the love she spread and the lives she touched.
