Lauri Lynn Uecker was born on May 18, 1968, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Dennis and Susan Hasz. From an early age, she carried a vibrant spirit that would remain unmistakable throughout her life. She graduated from Ellendale High School and went on to work in a variety of roles over the years, including as a dispatcher for BNSF Railroad, where her quick thinking and strong personality served her well.
Lauri was someone you noticed when she walked into a room. She could strike up a conversation with just about anyone and had a way of making strangers feel like old friends. She loved upbeat music — the kind you simply couldn’t sit still to — and was famous for spontaneous dance parties with her girls. Her laughter was contagious, her practical jokes unforgettable, and her energy unmistakable.
An avid animal lover, Lauri cared for numerous dogs and cats throughout her life. Her home was rarely without a four-legged companion, and she had a soft spot for any animal that needed a little extra love.
Above all, Lauri was a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four daughters: Jennifer (Kirk) Glynn, Samantha Hustoft, Sydnie (Logan) Sparks, and Olivia Hustoft; her stepdaughter, Melanie Uecker; her cherished grandchildren, Kadince, Quinley, Kimber, and Hunter; her sister, Kim (Wade) Kemmet; her brother-in-law, Dean Hovey; her nieces and nephews, Evan, Taylor, Riley, and Chase; her aunt, Nancy (Don) Gilberg; her cousin, Lisa (Glenn) Lapham; and her husband, Scott Uecker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Susan Hasz; her sisters, Tamara Hasz and Shellie Hovey; and her grandparents, Minnie and George Courts and Eva and Art Hasz.
Lauri passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, surrounded by her family. Though her time here was far too short, the joy she brought into a room will not fade.
In her honor, when the music gets loud and the beat feels impossible to ignore, may you dance a little longer, laugh a little louder, and remember Lauri’s joy for life.
