Laurie Hickmott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Muir Funeral Home & Celebration of Life Center - Imlay City on Feb. 23, 2026.
LAURIE MARIE HICKMOTT, (50), of Dryden took her first breath on earth on August 25, 1975 and passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 22, 2026 surrounded by her family and friends.

Laurie was born to Harold and Debra Hallock originally of Owendale, MI on August 25, 1975. She moved to Washington, MI in 1986 attended Romeo Community Schools where he graduated from high school in 1993. Growing up Laurie enjoyed being with her family and making regular trips to Sebewaing where her grandparents had a home which included attending the annual Sugar Festival nearly every year of her life. In 1994 she met a young feller-Brian Hickmott and they dated until that marriage proposal came in 1998 while visiting Mackinac Island. Laurie and Brian were married on October 9, 1999.

Laurie enjoyed married life and in 2001 they moved to Dryden where they settled in. Her other love of life was with her children, Kyle (2002), Ashley (2004) and a surprise set of twins Michael and Matthew (2005). She was involved in being with them every step of the way and enjoyed watching them grow into a fine set of adults. She made it a point to be at all of their sporting and school events and continued to help them as they made and are making life decisions. Traveling with the Brian and the kids was always a joy and one of the great trips was made out west to Yellowstone. Lots of stories came from that trip.

Laurie worked in various retail stores, small businesses including the last several years at Target. In the process of bring up her kids and taking care of the family, she found time to earn an associate degree in early childhood education. With that degree in hand she got a job at the Dryden Community School and loved working with the kids as a Paraprofessional. Laurie met a forever friend while being involved in her family's schooling, that friend Lori Hall. Lori and her husband (Ray) spent many hours attending school and other events together with Laurie and Brian over the past several years.

Laurie is survived by her husband Brian, her children Kyle, Ashley, Michael and Matthew and by her brother Bryan (Amanda) Hallock. By her aunt and uncles--Bob (Jan) Stier, Diane Thielman, Denise Stier, Dawn VanHoost and Ron Stier.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Hallock (2023) and Debra Williams (2019) and her Aunt Donna (Mike) Maxwell
