Laurie A. Samuelson, 48, Detroit Lakes, Minn. died Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Laurie was born on February 10, 1977 in Fargo, ND to Roy and Bev Samuelson. She was a 1995 graduate of Hawley High School. Laurie attended MSUM in Moorhead. She married Curtis Schmoll in October of 2000 in Moorhead, MN and they later went their separate ways. Laurie was a devoted mother to her son, Dylan and daughter, Lexi. 

Laurie had a variety of jobs throughout her life including working as a CNA, waitressing, instructor and tester for the DMV, CSR for an insurance agent until she became disabled in 2013. Laurie lived her life to the fullest, she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. She especially adored her children and nephews and looked up to her parents and sister. Summer and its warmth was her favorite season and she shined like the brightest and most beautiful sunrise. She loved to be outdoors and her favorite activities were hunting, fishing and enjoying the beach life. Laurie loved to play pool and sing and dance very much. She was always up for an adventure, she especially loved to travel. She loved to care for any and all animals. Laurie was always ready to lend a hand to those that needed something, she was a selfless, genuine friend. Laurie’s amazing smile and infectious laugh will be missed. She was a true blessing to those who knew her because of her kind and caring nature. 

Laurie is survived by her children, Dylan Schmoll of Frazee, MN, Lexi Schmoll of Detroit Lakes, MN, her parents, Roy and Bev Samuelson of Hawley, MN, her sister, Michelle (Terry) Angus, nephews, Jacob, Nate and Nick, West Fargo, ND, significant other, Justin Wuollet of Detroit Lakes, MN, many Aunts and Uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her Grandparents, Godfather Donnie Stenger, Aunt Genny Klinefelter, Uncle Richard Samuelson, cousins Dave Vareberg, Robert Stroschein, and April Stenger.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. with a wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Hawley, MN. Visitation will continue Friday, February 28, from 1-2 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church.
