Obituary of Lauro Lionel "Leo" Loza
With heavy hearts we share the passing of our loved one, Lauro Lionel "Leo" Loza of Pearland, TX. He passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025 at the age of 85.
Leo was born on September 5, 1939, in McAllen, Texas to Lily Flores-Loza and Antonio Loza. Although the 2 eldest of 6 children he was affectionally called "Baby" as there was a 7-year age gap between him and his younger brother Bobby.
He graduated Edinburgh High School in 1958, attended Pan American College and joined The Army National Guard serving 3 years active duty honorably.
In 1963 he began his professional career in finance. Leo met his wife Glenda Avila while working at a finance company in San Antonio TX, they married in July 1975 settling in Houston where Leo began his career in banking retiring from Wells Fargo Bank 2009.
Leo enjoyed taking trips with his family especially when they involved fishing, gambling or water activities. He didn't always catch the big one or hit it big at the casino and there were times our watercrafts capsized but fun was had by all.
Leo will be remembered for being voted "Most Handsome" of his high school class, his fun-loving personality and sense of humor. During tough times Leo offered support and had a way of putting a smile on your face and during the good times he loved to celebrate with his family and took pride in their accomplishments.
Leo was proceeded in death by his parents Antonio and Lily Loza; siblings Tony Loza Jr. and Yvonne Chapa. Leo is survived by his wife, Glenda; children Leo Jr (Clarissa), Gina (Christopher), Larry (Nicci); grandchildren, Laura, Steven, Gage, El; siblings, Bobby (Cookie), Blanca, Jo Ann (Pat) and brother-in-law, Leo Chapa.
The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to family and friends who were by his side in the weeks prior to his passing, bringing comfort, laughter and joy to him during his final days.
