On Tuesday morning of October 3, 2023, God in His timing called home Lavalle Hockenhull, Jr. Junior was born in De Kalb, MS to his loving parents, Lavalle Hockenhull, Sr and Hattie Powe Hockenhull. He was the 5th child of 9 children - Maxine Powe (Ron Lee), Mack Powe (Teresa), Richard Powe (Nenia), Jennifer Wash, Cecil Hockenhull (Becky), Edward Hockenhull (Yolanda), Timothy Hockenhull (Laura), and Reginald Andre Hockenhull (deceased), and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
The family later moved to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi. Junior graduated from Pass Christian High School. He later attended Gulf Coast Community College where he received his Associates Degree in Computer Science.
He was a hard working man who previously worked at the Postal Office, Dupont, Sun Herald, Walmart, and remained employed at Orkin Pest Control. He also became a father to Joshua Florence (Mercedes) and also was like a father to Jasmine Meads (Bryan) and Trey Dedeaux (deceased). He later met the love of his life and happily married to his surviving spouse, Imelda Monta and gained more children - Jaenina (Jakub), William Jr, and Aimee Charmaine. Furthermore, he was blessed to become a grandfather to his grandsons - Milo, Braylen, and "Lil JJ"Lavalle, III.
He enjoyed mostly spending time with his family, grandchildren, and dear friends. His hobbies included going to estate sales, fishing, eating delicious foods like crab buffets, and traveling to new places. His highlighted adventures were visiting the Philippines, sightseeing in San Francisco and the Bay Area, swimming the Florida beaches, eating exotic foods, and all the while taking in all of life's precious moments with his sweet and irresistible smile.
Despite his health circumstances, he continued with a joyful spirit and his faith remained in the Lord. He continued to fight with grace and immense strength. He always filled the room with his infectious laughter and unconditional love. We cannot forget how great of a loving and caring husband he was, an exceptional role model for his children, family and friends, a wonderful son and brother, and lastly, he had a heart of gold to those who were in need.
Junior lived by these words of wisdom. Always be kind. Be forgiving. Never sweat the small stuff. He was the kindest and most caring man who treated everyone with love in his heart.
