LaVerne P. Brown

LaVerne P. Brown, transitioned peacefully on September 22, 2025. LaVerne was born July 22, 1933 to Fannie B. and Robert C. Williams.

She graduated in 1952 from Huntington High School and was a retiree of Hampton University and a lifetime member of First Baptist East End, Newport News, VA.

LaVerne loved to spend time with her family and friends nurturing them through her love of cooking, attending church, and traveling experiencing new adventures and activities. She had a passion for crafting and creating.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Morris Martin, Jr. (Fabiola) of Newport News, VA and her daughter, Darnae M. Martin, Hampton. Granddaughter, Toya J. Lawton of Virginia Beach, VA, and two great granddaughters, Tamia A. and Madison E. Lawton of Virginia Beach, VA, and cousin Sharon Johnson, of Sandston, VA and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Altmeyer Funeral Home, Newport News, VA. A private service will be held at the Altmeyer Funeral Home Chapel.

The family would like to thank everyone who has supported and prayed for Mrs. Brown during the last few years, please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
