Alvester Brown

Alvester "Bunch" Brown, age 79, of Port Huron, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on April 21, 1946, in Columbus, Mississippi. Alvester was the daughter of Ethel Miller and Bob Brown. She married Michael Brown on November 7, 1964, in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1998, after 34 years of marriage. Alvester grew up in a large, close knit family, where she was the third of nine children.

Alvester spent most of her life devoted to raising her children and creating a loving, supportive home for her family, proudly attending their extracurricular activities and sporting events. She loved her coffee, her chicken dinners, and was especially known for her famous sauerkraut. She enjoyed playing keno and never missed an opportunity to go to bingo.

She attended Love Outreach Church for several years and was known for singing solos during church services; her favorite song was "You Can't Beat God's Giving." Above all, she will be remembered for the love and laughter she brought to her family.

Later in life, she became a proud and joyful member of the Marwood Choir, sharing her love of music and fellowship with her community. She brought encouragement, laughter, and warmth to the staff and residents at Marwood Manor, who truly appreciated her presence.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Sherry Brown, Michael (Michelle) Brown Jr., and James (Dawn) Brown. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Damien Kidd, Darren (Jill) Kidd, Andrena Brown, Tashina Brown, Demarco Brown, Tiyana Brown, Michael Brown III, Whitney Embra, Tyler (Jasmine) Brown, Austin Brown, Sydney Brown, Julian Pettitt, Markel Brown, Caleb Paris, James Brown II and Kiana Brown, one sibling, Mary L. McCullough. She had 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and a special niece Andrea Miller.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Brown, her father, Bob Brown; Her mother, Ethel Miller; three sisters, Artie Davis, Joyce Noble, Wilethel (Cindy) Miller; four brothers, Fred, Russell, Woodrow, and Clifford Miller. Two best friends Walter and Suzette Mitchell.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m., at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center at 4521 Ravenswood Road, Kimball, Michigan 48074 followed by a Celebration of Life at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
