LaVerne Hempeck Obituary
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at First Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Mary Kaye Ashley officiating. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the church. Caring for LaVerne and her family is the LeMieur Funeral Home in Little Falls, MN.
LaVerne Rasmusen was born on May 21, 1936, to the late Samuel and Esther (Johnson) Rasmusen in Sauk Centre, MN. She graduated from Sauk Centre High School in 1948. On September 10, 1955, she was united in marriage to Harvey Allen Hempeck in Sauk Centre, MN. Together, they shared a loving and devoted partnership that spanned 64 years. Laverne's work included many jobs throughout her life, but her favorite job was being a Guardian Ad Litem for several counties surrounding the Morrison County Area. Above all, LaVerne was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a caring and joyous spirit and was always willing and eager to join her grandchildren's adventures. Religion was always a big part of LaVerne's life and she was an active member of First Lutheran Church for most of her life.
Laverne is survived by her children, Kristen (Rick) Schwanke and Sheryl (Brad) Johnson, both of Little Falls, MN; grandchildren, Ginger (Keith) Duscher of Rice, MN, Nicholas (Abby) Peterschick of Fargo, ND, Nathan (Crystal) Peterschick of Little Falls, MN, Noah (Alyshia) Peterschick of Anoka, MN, Richard Jr. (Liza) Schwanke of Little Falls, MN, Arik (Madison) Schwanke of Cheyenne, WY, Hannah (Owen) Lampert of Bowlus, MN, Nils (Larissa) Johnson of Minneapolis, MN and Aaron (Kayla) Johnson of Little Falls, MN; and 16 great-grandchildren.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Esther Rasmusen; husband, Harvey Hempeck; infant son; siblings, Merlin Rasmusen and Ilene Nett; and sister-in-law, Truma Rasmusen.
