LaVerne was born on August 1, 1940, in Tama County, Iowa, the son of Emil and Vivian (Norris) Lacina.
He graduated from Tama High School.
LaVerne retired from Twin City Motor in Tama and worked previously at Tama Meat Packing Plant and Clifton's Grocery Store in Tama. He enjoyed yard work and tinkering in his garage and basement.
He is survived by his sister, Dixie Lacina of Toledo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sister, Deane Mae (Roger) Whaley.
