LaVonne Pitek Obituary

LaVonne M. Pitek

It is with great sorrow we said goodbye to LaVonne M. Pitek, age 87, who passed away on March 12, 2021. She was born July 1, 1933, in Wausau, WI, to the late Albert and May Arnold. She married Ronald Pitek December 11, 1954, and resided in Schofield, WI, where they raised their 5 children.

Beyond raising her 5 children, she spent her working career as an administrative assistant at Intercity State Bank in Schofield. She then was an associate at Target where she had many friends and loved a good bargain.

Her greatest accomplishment was her children whom she was devoted to and took great pride in. LaVonne loved to spend time with her family, playing cards, relaxing at their cottage near Lake Tomahawk, dancing with Ron, traveling on cruises, trips to the casino where she loved to push those buttons, and have a good old fashioned or a cold beer on a hot summer day. In her younger days, she was an accomplished bowler having numerous 600 series.

LaVonne was a wonderful, compassionate, caring, selfless woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed greatly and will always hold a very special place in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; her parents, May and Albert Arnold; her sister, Marge (Prince); brothers, Dale and Howard Arnold; and her daughter, Susan Galbreath.

She is survived by her children, Tom Pitek (Jill), of Rhinelander, WI, Jane Stachoviak (Mitch), of Wausau, Jim Pitek (Judy), of Wausau, and Karen Pitek (Mark Revie), also of Wausau. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Chad Fritz, of Schofield, Jake Stachoviak, of Schofield, Heather Prusinski (Caleb), of Weyerhaeuser, WI, Jessica Galbreath, of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Katherine Rae Winker, of Wisconsin Rapids, Nathan Pitek, of Rhinelander, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Wausau Manor and Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice for their compassionate care.

In accordance with LaVonne's wishes, no formal services will be held. Generations Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family. View LaVonne's obituary and leave online condolences at generationsfuneral.com.

Tom I’m very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. She sounded like one amazing mom. Cherish all those wonderful memories. She is in heaven with my amazing mother too. My mother has been gone for 48 years (I was 17). My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I think your mom might have worked with my husbands mom Janet Akey at Intercity bank.
