Lawrence (Larry) Bell, 82, of Nixa, MO. passed away at 7:00 pm on Monday June 17, 2024 at the Springfield Rehab in Springfield, MO. He was born July 30, 1941 in Peoria, IL to Robert E. and Eleanor M. (Crawford) Bell. Upon graduation from Bushnell Prairie City High School in 1959, Larry married Linda Gale Reno at the St. Bernard Catholic Church in Bushnell, IL on December 30, 1961.
Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home he worked for the Thermos Corp; while living in Macomb, IL. Larry and Linda soon moved to southern California where Larry continued to work for Thermos Corp. After retiring, Larry and Linda moved to Nixa, MO.
Larry had an easy-going personality and made many friends during his lifetime in Illinois, California and Missouri. He loved to joke around, sometimes even pulling pranks on friends. Larrys real passion was Cars. He read and collected car magazines and various books about cars. Also, he maintained several years of new car and truck brochures. Larry enjoyed watching all types of car racing. He attended the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona races several times. His favorite NASCAR drivers were Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
Larry was also an avid fan of college football. He especially looked forward to watching all of the bowl games.
He is survived by his brother, Patrick Bell of Springfield, IL as well as nieces and nephews, and close friends Buddy (Kathy) Lewis of Springfield, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Linda Bell. After Lindas passing, Larry married Gloria (Graves) Bell.
Graveside Services and Military Rites will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday June 26, 2024 at the Bushnell Township Cemetery with Father Eugene Radosevich officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Tuesday June 25, 2024 at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
