Lawrence James DeMonaco ("Larry"), 79, of Fox Chapel, passed away on April 28, 2023, peacefully at home with his family.
Larry was born on July 7, 1943, to Herman and Mary DeMonaco in Bloomfield, PA. After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1962, he went on to study at Gannon University, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Business Administration. Larry was a remarkable man with a long, distinguished career at GE Capital, allowing him to travel the world and amass a wealth of stories to entertain family and friends.
He was a beloved and dedicated husband survived by his wife Monique, sister Mary Ann Doorley, children Kelly, Kristie, Scott Olbeter (Ariella), Stefania, Anso Gavazzi, Henry Gavazzi, and Zane Gavazzi, grandchildren Jacob, Oliver, Maddox, Riley & Silas, nephew David Doorley, in-laws Ted Sanoba, Dianne Christine & brother-in-law Eric Sanoba (Luci).
After retiring in 2003, he dedicated his time to being a stay-at-home dad. Larry lovingly volunteered every year as Homeroom Dad at Fairview Elementary. He took great pleasure in volunteering at the DMS school store and was Grill Master for Fox Chapel Area High School Football Boosters. Larry never met a dog he didn't love and spent many afternoons walking his grand-dog, Francis.
Larry passed away and happily reunited with his cherished mother and father, and his adored dog, Molly.
The viewing will be held from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday, May 3rd, at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont, PA 15139 with a celebration of life service to follow on Thursday, May 4th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
