Lawrence John (Jack) Fisher, III passed away peacefully August 1, 2023, after spending his final days surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 22, 1945, in Greenville, S.C., the oldest of four boys to Louise Armstrong Fisher and Lawrence John Fisher, Jr. He was an avid sports lover, and played basketball and golf at Darien High School, before attending Washington & Lee University and Clemson University, where he studied economics and other – how shall we say it – less productive matters.
After college and a stint as an Army MP in Korea, Jack spent over 50 years in the textile business. His work took him all over the country and the world. He started his career in sunny southern California, where he met his wife, Carol. He caught her eye in a pair of Wranglers, which is particularly amusing to his children given Jack's tendency to wear khakis and Brooks Brothers shirts no matter how casual the situation.
Jack and Carol lived brief stints, but met dear friends, in Dallas, TX, Darien, CT, and Madison, NC before settling to raise kids in Charlotte. Whether it be driving his children to swim meets, taking family trips around the country, cheering loudly at a Clemson football game, watching his grandsons play basketball, playing golf with buddies, or walking his beloved Jack Russells through the neighborhood in Greenville, S.C., where he and Carol moved later in life, Jack could be found holding court. He never met a stranger and had a knack for remembering names and tidbits about everyone. Even as his dementia progressed, he maintained a wonderful sense of courage and humor. We have all heard the stories, which were very often better than the actual events (though the actual events were pretty darn good). Jack was always in search of fun, and fun found a way of following him.
Jack is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carol Rose Fisher, and their children, Susan Paschal and her husband, Rodney, Margaret Hyder and her husband, Alan, and Jack Fisher, as well as two grandchildren, James and Jack Paschal. He will also be greatly missed by his brothers, Jim Fisher and wife, Evelyn and George Fisher and wife, Holly, sisters-in-law Patsy Fisher and Peggy Lancina and husband, Jim, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack was pre-deceased by his brother, Frank Fisher.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks for the care Jack received from Eloquent Home Care, in particular, Leroy, Taz, Bre, and Aisha, and the nurses and staff of Sharon Towers and VIA Health Partners.
For those wishing to honor Jack, the family suggests a memorial gift to First Tee or the charity of one's choice.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Christ Episcopal Church, Charlotte. The service will be livestreamed at: https://www.christchurchcharlotte.org/funeral-live-broadcast/? for those unable to attend in person.
Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth W. Poe Funeral & Cremation Service. 1321 Berkeley Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204 (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Dear Carol,
My heart goes out to you and your family for your enormous loss. Jack was such a special friend to me all those years ago in Darien. His big heart and bright smile were never forgotten after all these years. I remember my husband Peter and I meeting you and Jack as newlyweds all those years ago.
I send love and prayers to you and your Jack,
Nancy Strohmeier

Carol and the Fisher family, Jack and I shared many great times going back to our days in Darien. Although we didn´t play basketball on the same teams at Darien HS because Jack graduated the year before I got there, we enjoyed playing together and competing against one another in games at Hindley School´s court. We reconnected in Charlotte during our first stay here and kept in touch over the years since. I´ll miss our fun times, laughs, and phone chats since that time and have many fond memories of my good friend, Jack. Carol, my sincere and heartfelt condolences to you, Susan, Margaret, Jack, and your entire family. RIP my friend!

Jack and I go back nearly 50 years working together in the textile industry. We shared an office while at Macfield.
Every day was an experience with my friend.
He will be missed by all of us who had the privilege of calling him our friend. He kept in touch by phone during
his difficult time but always hung up making me feel better. I will miss him. Norma and I send our love and prayers to you Carol and the family. We love you.
