Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beck-Givnish Funeral Home, Inc. on Apr. 10, 2025.
Lawrence Anthony (or Louis depending on the day) Garzone abruptly threw up his horns and left the mortal plane for the big rock concert in the sky on March 29, 2025, at the age of 73. Born June 8, 1951 to the late Lawrence and Irene Garzone (nee Gluch) in
Philadelphia, Pa, Larry, or Lar, was the beloved (pronounced high strung) father of Kristyn Lefferts (Richard), and Justin Garzone (Kristen); dear brother (pain in the ass) of Robert Garzone (Rose), and Joseph Garzone (Leigh), and crazy uncle of Jacqueline Stone (Adam), Eric Garzone, and Jenna Garzone. Larry will be dearly missed by many cousins, his friend and former spouse, and mother of his children, Deborah Garzone (nee Jackson), and many friends.
Larry was the definition of a blue-collar worker. He was raised in the Port Richmond section of the city, and worked at Garzone Beverage in his teen years, acquired his CDL and drove for Penn Distributors for over 25 years. Larry was a die-hard Flyers fan, as a season ticker holder he cheered them on to both Stanley Cups in the 1970's. If you listen closely on a cold December day, you can still hear him screaming at them on the TV. He enjoyed all Philly sports and was so happy that he got to see two Eagles Super Bowl wins in his lifetime.
Larry always made friends anywhere he went and would talk to anyone. He has made many friends all over the world through AA. He was so proud of his 8 years of sobriety because it brought him back to his family. He could not stop talking about his children to anyone who would listen.
In the summer Larry could always be found on the beach in Wildwood, NJ at the family beach house. He would spend all day on the beach building a ball roll for all the kids on the beach to play with. He'd spend hours in the sun digging away in the sand, the go "take a dip" in the ocean while the kids played with his creation. Larry loved a good concert, from taking the whole family to see the Moody Blues in Atlantic City, to not missing a hard rock show each year with his kids. Even at the last show he went to with Kristyn, at the ripe old age of 71, he was still in the pit throwing up the horns. And we can't forget the merch. He kept the guys and gals at the merch tables busy. He has enough hoodies and t-shirts to clothe a small country. The local Hallmark store will be missing their biggest customer. Every year he bestowed the latest ornaments on his friends and family.
He loved astronomy as well. He took every chance he could to star-gaze; a passion he shared with his daughter, Kristyn. He would take his telescope on Boy Scout camping trips with his son Justin; everyone, young and old, would line up for a chance to look at the sky through his lens. When it came to important events, Larry was always painfully early; this was no exception. None of us were ready for him to leave, but he had somewhere to be, and he needed to leave right away.
Relatives and friends are invited to Larry's Life Celebration on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 5-7 PM, and again on Monday, April 7 from 11 am to 12 Noon: followed by a time of sharing at Noon at the Beck-Givnish Life Celebration Home of Levittown, 7400 New Falls Rd,
Levittown, Pa 19055; interment will be held privately. The service will be livestreamed via the Beck-Givnish Facebook page. www.facebook.com/beckgivnish
Leave the suits at home and throw on your favorite rock band shirt. He wouldn't have it any other way.
