In Loving Memory of Lawrence Robin Keiper
"Larry"
1947 – 2025
Lawrence "Larry" Robin Keiper, 78, of Moose River, Maine, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his devoted family, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Pennsylvania, Larry was the beloved son of the late John Elwood Keiper and Genevieve Marjorie Keiper. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the war from February 1968 to January 1970, providing support for maritime patrol operations while stationed in Iceland. After leaving the Navy, Larry, deeply inspired by his love of the outdoors cultivated in the woods of the Keystone State, followed his passion to Maine. In the beautiful Pine Tree State, he built a rewarding career in forestry, managing timberland with Plum Creek. When he retired in 2012, he left behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a profound connection to the land he loved.
Larry truly lived the dream. His deep and abiding faith in God was at the heart of everything he did. He cherished every season spent at camp on Moosehead Lake with his beloved wife, Karen, during the spring, summer, and fall. He found God's presence in the beauty of the outdoors and relished the quiet winters in Moose River, feeding the deer and tending the wood stoves. A true outdoorsman, he passed on his deep knowledge and love for nature to his children and grandchildren.
Above all, Larry was a family man. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his loved ones-watching his grandchildren play sports, hunting, fishing and teaching them life lessons in the woods he knew so well.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Kennedy Keiper; his sister, Wanda Altemose of Pennsylvania; and his children: Lindsay and Drew Begin of Moose River, Jamie Paradise of Glenburn, Matthew Keiper of Mesa, Arizona, and Jeanne and Chris Richards of Hermon. He was a proud and adoring grandfather to Brennan, Roger, Lilyah, Averie, Kennedy, Ella, and Ashton.
Larry was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held a special place in his heart. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Gloria Jean Besecker.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 6, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Legion Hall in Jackman. All are welcome to attend. A private church service for close family and friends will be held earlier that day at 11:00 AM at Big Wood Community Church in Jackman.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory may be made to:
Big Wood Community Church
134 Coburn Ave W
P.O. Box 111

Larry's spirit, strength, and love of life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, laughter, and a deep connection to the natural world.
