Lawrence "Larry" Lee Jordan, a beloved father, brother, and friend, passed away on January 9, 2025, at Alamance Medical Center. Born on October 31, 1956, in Alamance County, North Carolina, Larry made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Larry dedicated many years of his life to his work as a truck driver for Old Dominion Freight Line, where he achieved the remarkable milestone of driving three million miles—a testament to his commitment and skill in his profession. However, it was not merely the roads he traveled that defined him; it was the love he held for his family. Larry was proud of his two sons, Lawrence "Doug" Jordan and Christopher Jordan, who are left to cherish his memory along with their wives, Cheryl and Jennie; grandchildren, Benjamin Jordan, Samantha Jordan, Adeline Jordan, Gabrielle Jordan, Landon Riddle, and Autumn Jordan. He treasured every moment spent with them and was always eager to share his stories and wisdom.
In addition to his sons, Larry's family included a brother, Herbert "Joey" Jordan, and his wife Robin, as well as a sister, Pamela Harper, and her husband Keith. The bonds he shared with them were treasured, creating a legacy of love that will endure. He also took great joy in his relationship with his many nieces and nephews, who adored him.
Despite his busy career, Larry always made time to pursue his hobbies. He had a deep passion for fishing, relishing the times spent on both the ocean and fresh waters. Whether casting a line daily or sharing tales of his fishing adventures, these moments brought him profound happiness.
Larry's life was marked not only by his accomplishments as a driver but also by his service to his country in the United States Marine Corps. This chapter of his life instilled in him values of honor and duty, which he carried into all relationships throughout his life.
Although he has departed this world, he will be remembered warmly for his big heart and dedication to family. The loss of his mother, Audrey Iris Champion Jordan, his father, Herbert Hoover Jordan, and his sister, Bonnie Harper, is a testament to the enduring love that held them together, a love that Larry now exemplifies from beyond.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Larry's life during a visitation on January 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 1:00 PM at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory in Burlington, NC. Larry will then be interred at Alamance Memorial Park at 2:00 PM.
Larry’s legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him, an unwavering reminder of the importance of family and the joy found in simple pleasures. In his memory, let us honor his life by cherishing the connections we hold dear, just as he did.
