Larry Ostrowski, 94, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation at the church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM prior to the service.

Larry was born on October 26, 1930, to Andrew and Mary (Salisbury) Ostrowski. He grew up with a strong sense of duty and a deep love for family. At the young age of 17, Larry enlisted in the military, bravely serving his country. His service was marked by extraordinary courage, earning him the Purple Heart before his honorable discharge at age 20.

On August 6, 1954, Larry married the love of his life, Carol Peterson of Brainerd. Together, they built a beautiful life, celebrating 70 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. Larry’s greatest pride and joy was spending time with his family, who always remained the center of his life.

Larry also had a lifelong passion for driving trucks, a career he pursued with dedication and pride. One of his greatest joys was having his wife, children and grandchildren ride along with him as his co-captains, sharing stories and laughter on the open highway. He retired at the remarkable age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of hard work. Larry was also a proud member of the Legion Purple Heart Club, finding camaraderie and support among fellow veterans.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his children: Greg (JoAnn) Ostrowski, Marcia (Tim) Besmehn, Douglas (Lorrie) Ostrowski, Patrick Ostrowski, and Todd Ostrowski; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his sisters, Carol and Sheila.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mary Ostrowski; his sister, Delores; and his brother, Roger.

Larry’s family will remember him for his quiet strength, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. He lived a full and meaningful life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
