Lawrence E. "Larry" MacDonald ObituaryBETHANY, CONNECTICUT: Lawrence E. "Larry" MacDonald, age 87, a lifelong Bethany resident, he entered into peaceful rest August 11, 2025. Larry was born January 9, 1938 in Bethany, son of the late Clifford and Clara (Carrington) MacDonald.
Larry was a dedicated farmhand who embraced life with joy and purpose. A proud member of the Bethany Grange, he found delight in square dancing with friends and took great pride in his backyard garden-especially his homegrown melons.
He worked at Gordon and Hiram Carrington's Agway, delivering feed alongside Hiram and helping collect eggs on the farm. Each year, Larry looked forward to his vacations in New Hampshire, where he spent time with family, rode his bike, and hiked the White Mountains.
In Bethany, Larry was well known for mowing lawns and faithfully served as the town's bottle recycler for the Bethany Historical Society. Always generous with his time, he was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need, including local farmers like Elsie Halter and John Early.
A devoted New York Yankees fan, Larry also loved chatting about history, the weather, and current events. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering community spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Rest in peace, Larry.
A Graveside Service in celebration of Larry's life will be held on Friday August 22nd at Northwest Cemetery, Woodbridge, located on Route 67 at 12:30 PM. Memorial Gifts may be sent to the Bethany Historical Society, 512 Amity Road, Bethany, CT 06524. Arrangements are entrusted to the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 West Church Street, Seymour.
