1932-2025
St. George, UT-A very special man, Lawrence "Larry" Joseph McGeehan passed away on April 17, 2025, at his home in St. George, Utah with his wife, Sandy at his side. Larry was 92 years old. He married Sandra Thompson in Jamaica on March 30, 1990.
Larry was born in Leadville, Colorado on August 29, 1932, to William Henry McGeehan and Angelina Formalo. He is the third youngest of eight siblings: Annie, Joseph "Buddy", Viola "Noni", Louise, James "Jim", Lawrence "Larry", Leo, and Angelina "Angel".
Larry graduated from Leadville High School. He served his country honorably for four years while in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the mines in Colorado, Utah, and Idaho. When Larry moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, he became a master brick mason for the rest of his career. Larry loved fishing, hunting, playing the ukulele, and coaching little league baseball and football teams. Larry retired to St. George, Utah where he enjoyed visits from family, many wonderful friends, golf, and bowling.
Larry fathered two amazing sons: Lawrence (Loren) Joseph McGeehan II and Shane Dean McGeehan. Larry loved six bonus children as his own: Jerry Drysdale, Brent and Bill Bruesch, Debbie (Dennis) Terrell, Laura (Brett) Keefe and William "Will" Houghton.
Larry is survived by his wife: Sandra McGeehan; son: Shane McGeehan; brother: Leo McGeehan; five bonus children: Brent, Bill, Debbie, Laura, and Will; 23 grandchildren, and 32 ½ great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank everyone from Dixie Hospice. They have been so very wonderful and supportive.
