Lawrence "Larry" Michael McNamara, Jr., 95 of Enfield entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Ann (Astle) McNamara. Lawrence was born on July 17, 1930 in Manchester, CT, a son of the late Lawrence M. and birth mother Flora (Lusa) McNamara and mother Marjorie (Schildge) McNamara. He grew up in Manchester and was a graduate of the Class of 1948, prior to settling in Enfield for the past 70 years. Larry served his country proudly for four years with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Prior to retiring he was employed with Hamilton Standard/ Sunstrand for many years. Larry was a founding member of Holy Family Parish and it's Legion of Mary. He coached youth basketball and Little League, and a longtime avid fan of the San Francisco Giants. Larry was blessed with caring, helpful neighbors and friends, as well as the care of the 2nd floor staff at The Pines at Bristol during his time there.
Larry is survived by his children; Christopher & wife Lynn McNamara of Nunda, NY, Michael & Gloria McNamara of Kalamazoo, MI, and Mary-Ellen & Richard Yezek of Plainville, CT, his three grandchildren; Timothy McNamara (Amy), Meaghan Grohalski (James), and Ian McNamara, and 7 great-grandchildren, and a dear friend Marval. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers Richard and Marshal.
Funeral services for Larry will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 with a visitation period from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Browne Memorial Chapels, Enfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am in Holy Family Church (St. Jeanne Jugan Parish), 23 Simon Rd. Enfield. Interment will take place after the Mass in Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are requested to South MI Food Bank, 5451 Wayne Rd. Battle Creek, MI 49037.
