Lawrence Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Spooner Funeral Home on Jan. 31, 2026.
Lawrence Terrence "Larry" Meyer, age 81, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN. He was born on June 27, 1944, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Melvin and Catherine (Wald) Meyer. He was united in marriage to Gloria J. Davis on April 9, 1997, in Shell Lake, WI.

Larry proudly served his country in Korea as a combat medic in the United States Army. He started his working career with American Hoist before moving on to the Milwaukee Railroad. He retired from the railroad early and bought "French's", a liquor store in Prescott, WI. Larry finished his career as a semi-truck driver, serving several different companies. He and Gloria renovated several houses and kept many of them as rentals. He certainly knew how to work hard; however, he knew how to relax as well. He enjoyed the Northwoods, especially fishing and hunting but was not too serious about either of them.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria of Spooner, WI; his children, Renee Heselton of Hastings, MN, Jeff Meyer of Spooner, WI, Patricia McCoy of Montrose, MN and Andrew McCoy of Eau Claire, WI; his grandchildren, Jake Matsch, Grant Heselton, Madison Meyer and Jamie McCoy; his great-grandchildren, Elea and Hayes Heselton; and many dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Larry will be laid to rest with honors in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. This service will be held privately.
